Agent infrastructure is the orchestration layer that moves an AI agent from model output to real-world action. It connects the model to tools, APIs, databases, and workflows, and it decides when a request is allowed to become a side effect such as sending a message, creating a ticket, or starting a script.
This layer matters because it is a security boundary, not just plumbing. If it trusts unverified input, attackers can abuse the agent with prompt injection, forged tool requests, or direct calls that bypass the model entirely. In those cases, model prompts, content filters, and other guardrails may never run. Defenders should treat tool execution as privileged: validate inputs, enforce allowlists and schemas, check destinations, and require explicit authorization before any external action occurs.
