An accessibility audit is a structured review of a website or application to find barriers that prevent people from using it effectively, especially with assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or voice input. Audits check things like semantic HTML, color contrast, labels, focus order, form behavior, and the structure of dynamic content.
In cyber security, accessibility audits matter because they are part of trustworthy software delivery. Automated tools can quickly flag common defects, but they can also miss context-dependent problems or create false confidence. When AI is used to suggest fixes, it may change DOM structure, ARIA attributes, or frontend logic in ways that introduce regressions or weaken usability. Defenders use audits alongside human validation and regression testing to verify that changes still work, remain reviewable, and do not break critical flows such as login, checkout, or incident reporting. A good audit improves both compliance and resilience.
