2D game

A game built on flat graphics with width and height, not depth.

A 2D game is a game built on flat graphics, using width and height but no true depth. Movement, collisions, menus, and sprites are usually handled in a two-axis coordinate system, even if the game uses effects that imitate depth.

In cybersecurity, 2D games matter because they are common targets for tampering and a frequent place where untrusted content enters a build. Attackers may abuse mod files, custom maps, asset packs, or weak scripting hooks to run unwanted code, steal game data, or alter gameplay. Defenders reduce risk by validating input, sandboxing mods, signing assets, protecting update channels, and hardening any network features such as chat, matchmaking, or score submission. The flat structure of a 2D game does not make it safer by itself; the security depends on how the engine handles files, scripts, and player input.
