Vacuum drying

A drying method that uses lowered pressure to help moisture leave a material more easily.

Vacuum drying is a drying method that lowers pressure so moisture leaves a material more easily. In a vacuum, water evaporates at lower temperatures and can escape from pores, seams, and hidden surfaces that would dry slowly in open air. The process is used for parts that are sensitive to heat or where trapped moisture would cause corrosion, residue, or electrical failure.

In cyber security, vacuum drying matters anywhere hardware cleanliness and reliability affect trust: after liquid exposure, during board repair, after chemical cleaning, or in device manufacturing and lab work. A part that looks dry on the outside may still hold moisture inside connectors, layers, or packaging, leading to short circuits, delayed corrosion, or faulty forensic results. Defenders use controlled drying and measurement to make sure equipment is safe to power on and that evidence handling does not distort later analysis.
