Vacancy

A job opening posted to support recruitment and, in some cases, compliance steps.

A vacancy is a posted job opening used to attract candidates. In digital HR and compliance systems, it is more than a notice: it is a data object with a publication date, role details, ownership, and links to other employment records. When a vacancy is part of an automated workflow, its accuracy and timing matter because downstream systems may use it to validate eligibility, trigger approvals, or confirm that a hiring step happened in the correct order.

From a cyber security perspective, vacancies matter because they create a controlled record that can be checked for integrity and consistency. Attackers may abuse recruitment flows with fake job posts, impersonation, or phishing messages that look like legitimate hiring activity. Defenders use vacancy records, audit trails, and cross-system matching to spot tampering, missing timestamps, or mismatched data between HR, payroll, and reporting platforms. In short, a vacancy can be both a recruitment tool and a security control point.
