UV curing is the process of hardening a light-sensitive resin by exposing it to ultraviolet (UV) light. The light triggers a chemical reaction that changes the liquid resin into a solid. In resin 3D printing, controlled exposures cure selected regions layer by layer; the wavelength, intensity, and exposure time affect the result.
Accurate UV delivery matters because under-curing can leave parts weak or tacky, while excessive exposure can distort fine details. Compact systems may use optics such as fibre optics to guide light to a small print area, making alignment and calibration important. In manufacturing and laboratory equipment, operators verify the light source and finished material rather than relying on appearance alone. UV curing is a materials process, not itself a cybersecurity control, but dependable calibration and verification help prevent faulty outputs in systems that use it.
