Server-side analysis is the processing of data on a remote server rather than entirely on a user’s device. A browser or security tool may send selected information-such as page content or security signals-to a service, which evaluates it and returns a result.
In cybersecurity, this can help detect threats that are difficult to identify with local checks alone. For example, a browser may use remote analysis to assess whether a webpage resembles a scam, alongside domain reputation and other signals. Because information leaves the device, server-side analysis also raises privacy and data-handling considerations. Users and organizations should understand what is shared, when processing occurs, and how the feature fits with other defenses; it is a layer of protection, not a guarantee that every threat will be caught.
