Remediation roadmap

A tracked plan for fixing security or compliance gaps with owners, deadlines, and evidence.

A remediation roadmap is a tracked plan for closing security or compliance gaps. It records each finding, the responsible owner, target deadlines, required evidence, and current status. In practice, it turns a loose list of issues into an execution plan that can be audited and measured.

In cyber security, remediation roadmaps matter because vulnerabilities, missing controls, and policy failures are only useful if they are fixed on time. Attackers often exploit organizations that know about weaknesses but cannot prioritize or verify repairs. Defenders use roadmaps to coordinate patching, access review, logging improvements, and control changes across teams. The roadmap also supports governance frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001, and AI oversight by linking each gap to proof of completion and ongoing risk reduction.
