A receipt confirmation is evidence that a system received and recorded a submitted filing. It may be a confirmation page, message, timestamp, or unique receipt ID. It is distinct from proof that the filing was accepted as complete or that its contents were correct.
In electronic filing systems, confirmations help users demonstrate that they submitted documents on time and help operators trace submissions during outages or disputes. If a portal fails to display confirmation, preserve timestamps, error messages, and other submission records, then follow the agency’s documented alternate procedures. For defenders, reliable confirmation and clear status reporting support accountability and recovery; a missing receipt alone does not establish that data was lost or a system was compromised.
