Quote-to-cash is the business process that turns a price quote into an order, invoice, and payment. In software and cloud services, it often spans sales configuration, contract approval, usage capture, billing, collections, and revenue recognition. It matters in cyber security because it sits at the center of customer and finance data, where a single workflow can affect pricing, access, and cash flow.
Attackers may target quote-to-cash systems to change pricing, redirect payments, create fake invoices, or abuse integrations between CRM, billing, and payment platforms. Defenders protect it with strong identity controls, approval workflows, audit logs, input validation, and separation of duties. In usage-based models, the same controls also help keep metering data accurate and tamper-resistant, so billing stays trustworthy and disputes can be investigated quickly.
