Quantum SDK

A software toolkit used to build, test, and connect quantum programs with simulators or hardware services.

A quantum software development kit (SDK) is a collection of tools and libraries for writing, testing, and running quantum programs. It can help translate algorithms into circuit descriptions, test them with simulators, and connect workflows to quantum hardware services. Capabilities vary by SDK and by the services it supports.

SDKs matter to cybersecurity because they can be part of a software supply chain, linking code to dependencies, cloud APIs, notebooks, and access credentials. In real-world development, compromised packages, exposed secrets, or poorly controlled cloud permissions can put projects and data at risk. Defenders should review dependencies, verify software sources, protect credentials, and restrict service access. These are conventional security concerns; using a quantum SDK does not itself create a quantum-powered attack.
