Process Validation

Checking that a workflow works correctly before automating it.

Process validation is the practice of checking that a workflow produces correct, consistent results before automating it. It involves confirming the steps, inputs, decision rules, exceptions, and expected outcomes, rather than assuming that an existing process is sound simply because people already use it.

In cybersecurity, validating a process helps prevent automation from scaling errors or unsafe actions. Before an AI system or script handles tasks such as account approvals or data transfers, teams should test normal and edge cases, verify permissions and data handling, and define human review and rollback procedures. Ongoing monitoring can reveal when changes in systems or inputs make a previously validated workflow unreliable.
