Process review

A structured examination of how work is done to improve efficiency, accuracy, or control.

A process review is a structured examination of how a task or workflow is performed. It identifies steps, responsibilities, approvals, and points where errors or delays can occur, with the aim of improving efficiency, accuracy, or control.

In cyber security, process reviews help organizations check whether important tasks-such as granting access, handling sensitive data, or responding to incidents-have clear safeguards and accountability. When AI or other automation is introduced, a review can establish which steps may be automated and where people must verify results, approve actions, or handle exceptions. This reduces the risk that faster work bypasses security controls or produces unchecked errors.
