No-training

A promise that customer data will not be used to improve or train a model.

No-training is a privacy promise that customer data will not be used to improve, fine-tune, or otherwise train a model. In cyber security, this matters because user prompts, documents, and logs can contain sensitive information that should not become part of a provider’s learning pipeline. If training use is allowed, data may be retained longer, copied into model datasets, or indirectly exposed through model behavior.

In practice, no-training is only one control. It does not automatically mean zero retention, because a service may still keep prompts in logs, caches, backups, or operational systems. Defenders should verify the full data path, check contractual terms, and confirm how retention, access, and deletion are handled. Attackers and careless integrations often exploit the gap between a reassuring policy and the actual storage chain, so security reviews must treat no-training as one layer of protection, not the whole control.
