A namespace boundary is the separation between Kubernetes namespaces, which group and isolate workloads, resources, and identities. It helps limit which workloads can access or affect resources in other namespaces. This separation is not automatically a complete security barrier: permissions and integrations must be configured to preserve it.
In attacks, a misconfigured identity mapping or access-control rule can let a workload act beyond its intended namespace, potentially gaining access to services or privileges elsewhere. Defenders should review namespace-scoped permissions, service-account bindings, and integrations that translate Kubernetes identities into another system’s authorization model. Monitoring unexpected identity assignments and permission changes can help detect boundary violations.
