Link sharing is a way to grant access to a file, photo, or other content through a URL. In an “anyone with the link” setting, access may not require a named account or recipient approval; the URL itself acts as a bearer credential. Anyone who obtains a forwarded or exposed link may be able to open the content, subject to the service’s settings.
This convenience can broaden exposure and make access harder to track or revoke than sharing with specific people. In real-world defenses, organizations limit who can create public links, set expiration dates, review sharing activity, and use content scanning or policy checks on shared items. Treat broadly accessible links more like publication than private storage, and avoid using them for sensitive material unless the sharing controls meet the required security policy.
