Interactive media

Content that responds to user input instead of playing in a fixed sequence only.

Interactive media is content that changes in response to user input, such as clicks, taps, form entries, menu choices, or timed decisions. Unlike passive video or text, it can branch, collect data, or reveal new states based on what the user does. Common examples include web apps, games, quizzes, dashboards, and guided training modules.

In cyber security, interactive media matters because attackers often use it to increase engagement and control the victim’s path. A phishing page may use a fake login flow, CAPTCHA, survey, or prize game to keep a target interacting long enough to steal credentials or deliver malware. Defenders also use interactive media for security awareness training, phishing simulations, and incident response portals. Because it can accept input and run code, interactive media can expand the attack surface, so it must be validated, sandboxed, and protected like any other user-facing application.
