A high-trust workflow is a business or security process that moves quickly because the request appears to come from a reliable, authoritative source. These workflows are common in support, compliance, finance, and incident response, where delays can be costly and urgent requests must be handled fast.
In cyber security, the danger is that attackers can abuse trust instead of hacking software. If staff accept an email, ticket, or message at face value, they may release data, approve payments, reset access, or bypass normal review. Defenses include independent verification, separation of duties, strict logging, and challenge steps for sensitive requests. The key idea is that apparent authority is not proof of legitimacy: high-trust workflows need friction, or they become a target for social engineering and process abuse.
