GPTs

custom assistant-style experiences built around specific instructions and capabilities.

GPTs are custom assistant-style experiences built around specific instructions, tools, and capabilities. Instead of a single general-purpose chatbot, a GPT is tuned for a narrow role, such as support triage, code review, document search, or internal workflow automation. The value is reuse: the same packaged behavior can be deployed across users or teams with consistent outputs and permissions.

In cyber security, GPTs matter because they can concentrate both useful automation and risk. A poorly governed GPT may expose sensitive prompts, internal knowledge, connected APIs, or data sources to users who should not have access. Attackers can abuse misconfigured tools, prompt injection, or overbroad permissions to redirect actions, leak data, or trigger unsafe integrations. Defenders use GPTs to standardize analysis, accelerate phishing review, and automate repetitive security tasks, but they must still control instructions, test tool access, and audit changes like any other software component.
