Exploit acceleration is the shrinking interval between a vulnerability becoming known and attackers developing or deploying a practical way to exploit it. The faster this happens, the less time defenders have to identify affected systems, assess exposure, patch, and verify that the fix worked.
In real attacks, this pressure can appear when attackers rapidly adapt public vulnerability details into working exploit code or use available tools against exposed systems. Defenders can reduce risk by maintaining an accurate asset inventory, prioritizing vulnerabilities known to be actively exploited, and checking that remediation covers all affected assets. If patching must wait, temporary controls such as restricting access, isolating systems, and increasing monitoring may help limit exposure.
