ERP backup

a copy of enterprise resource planning data used to restore core business records.

An ERP backup is a protected copy of data and configuration from an enterprise resource planning system. ERP platforms support core business processes such as finance, purchasing, inventory, payroll, and order management, so backups can help restore essential records after accidental deletion, system failure, ransomware, or other disruption.

Backups are security-sensitive assets: they may contain personal, financial, or operational information and can be exposed alongside production systems if attackers gain access. Defenders should restrict and monitor access, encrypt backup data, keep isolated or immutable copies, and test restoration procedures. A backup can support recovery, but it does not by itself prove that data was stolen or that a system was compromised.
