An endpoint policy is a set of rules that controls how managed devices-such as computers and servers-are configured and used. It can enforce security requirements such as firewall settings, software restrictions, encryption, updates, and access controls.
In cyber security, endpoint policies help apply protections consistently and limit the impact of compromised or noncompliant devices. During a security change, however, a policy may disrupt legitimate applications or workloads if its effects have not been tested. Teams can reduce this risk by assessing scope, piloting changes, monitoring device and service behavior, and preparing a rollback before broad deployment.
