Endpoint intelligence is information about a device or asset-such as its identity, role, configuration, software, or usual behavior-that helps security teams interpret related network activity. A connection may be expected for one asset but suspicious for another, depending on its purpose and normal communication patterns.
In cyber security, this context helps analysts investigate anomalies and prioritize alerts. Defenders may correlate endpoint inventory or telemetry with network monitoring to determine whether unusual communication reflects routine operations, maintenance, or possible compromise. Its value depends on accurate, current data: incomplete inventories or stale labels can produce misleading risk signals. Endpoint intelligence supports monitoring and triage, but does not by itself prove that an environment is secure or meets a compliance requirement.
