DeviceNetworkEvents is a Microsoft Defender XDR hunting table that records network activity from endpoints. It typically captures details such as the device involved, destination IP or domain, ports, protocol, process context, and timestamps. Security analysts use it to reconstruct what a host connected to, when it connected, and which process made the request.
This table matters because many attacks depend on outbound communication: malware beacons to command-and-control servers, stolen data is sent out, and compromised systems may probe other hosts. In defenses, DeviceNetworkEvents helps teams spot suspicious patterns such as rare destinations, unusual ports, repeated connections, or traffic linked to a specific process. It is also useful for validating hunts, but filters based on a single field can create blind spots if the telemetry classification is incomplete or inaccurate.
