Device-level monitoring

Security inspection focused on activity inside an individual device, not just traffic crossing the network.

Device-level monitoring inspects activity inside an individual computer, controller, or other device, rather than relying only on network traffic entering or leaving it. In operational technology (OT), it can help reveal changes to device configuration, software, or control logic that network sensors may not see.

This visibility can help defenders detect unauthorized modifications and investigate suspicious behavior. It complements-not replaces-network monitoring and asset inventories. In industrial environments, monitoring and any automated response must be tested for compatibility with device models and operating conditions: false alarms or an unsafe isolation action could disrupt essential processes. Organizations should validate coverage, alert accuracy, and response procedures before relying on a tool in live operations.
