A delivery path is the route a message takes from its sender to its recipient. It can include the messaging service and network used, as well as a fallback channel-for example, sending an SMS if a richer messaging format such as RCS is unavailable.
In cyber security, changes in the delivery path matter because they can affect how a message appears and how recipients judge its authenticity. Defenders should document routing and fallback behavior, secure sender enrollment, and explain what users can expect across channels. Predictable delivery helps reduce confusion that attackers may exploit with convincing messages; a fallback option alone does not verify who sent a message.
