Delegated decision-making is a workflow in which a system performs part of the judgment process, while a person or organization retains some level of authority. The system may rank candidates, recommend training, or flag performance concerns; delegation does not necessarily mean the system makes the final decision.
In cyber security and governance, the key questions are what the system is permitted to do, who can review or override its output, and what evidence is recorded. In practice, automated recommendations can become de facto decisions when people rely on them without meaningful scrutiny. Clear decision authority, effective human review, and audit trails help expose errors and keep responsibility accountable, especially when decisions affect people or use sensitive data.
