A data destroyed claim is an assertion that files, databases, backups, or other digital information were erased or made unusable. The statement alone does not establish that destruction occurred: it may come from an attacker, a public listing, or another source and can be inaccurate, exaggerated, or ambiguous.
For incident response, verify the claim before assessing impact. Review system and backup logs, check whether data can be restored, and preserve relevant evidence. Distinguish confirmed deletion from data theft, encryption, or temporary access problems; these are different outcomes with different risks. Treating an unverified claim as fact can mislead recovery decisions and reporting.
