Cybersecurity M&A means mergers and acquisitions involving security companies, teams, or products. A transaction can change who owns a security tool and how it is funded, developed, supported, or governed.
It matters because security products may handle sensitive logs, identity data, source code, or other operational information. After an ownership change, defenders should review vendor access, data handling and retention, subprocessors, contract terms, support responsibilities, and product roadmaps. During integration, unclear responsibilities or changes to data flows can create risk, although a deal alone does not establish that a security failure has occurred.
