Cyber resiliency

The ability of a system to anticipate, withstand, recover from, and adapt to adverse conditions.

Cyber resiliency is the ability of a system to anticipate, withstand, recover from, and adapt to adverse conditions. Unlike simple uptime planning, it covers both prevention and response: limiting the blast radius of failures, keeping critical functions running, restoring trusted state after an incident, and adjusting controls as threats or workloads change.

In cybersecurity, cyber resiliency matters because attackers often expect some defenses to fail. Ransomware, supply-chain compromise, misconfigurations, and service disruption can all turn into business outages if systems are fragile. Resilient designs use segmentation, backups, redundancy, strong identity controls, encryption, monitoring, and tested recovery procedures. In AI and other critical platforms, cyber resiliency also means safe failover, clear ownership, and lifecycle controls so a compromised component does not bring down the whole environment.
