Conversation compaction

A feature that shortens long chats so they use less space or context.

Conversation compaction is a process that reduces a long chat to a shorter representation, helping an AI system stay within context or storage limits. It may summarize earlier messages or preserve selected conversation state for later use.

Compaction matters in cyber security because it transforms data that may include sensitive content or protected internal state. In real systems, flaws in summarizing, storing, or rebuilding compacted context could expose information or weaken access boundaries. Defenses include clearly separating user-visible text from protected data, applying safeguards throughout compaction and restoration, and testing that sensitive content remains protected after transformations. Compaction is a data-handling feature, not by itself evidence of a breach.
