Contextualized intelligence

Shared threat data paired with enough explanation to make it actionable for defenders.

Contextualized intelligence is threat data accompanied by information that helps defenders judge its meaning and decide what to do. Instead of sharing only an IP address or file hash, a useful report may explain when and where it was observed, the suspected activity, confidence level, and how the indicator was validated.

Context matters because isolated indicators can be outdated, ambiguous, or irrelevant to a recipient’s environment. In real-world sharing, context can help security teams prioritize alerts, hunt for related activity, tune detections, or block a threat while reducing false positives. It also helps recipients understand handling limits and assess uncertainty before taking action. The goal is not simply to exchange more data, but to make shared information timely, trustworthy, and operationally useful.
