Configuration disclosure is the exposure of technical settings or architecture information, such as network diagrams, routing details, firewall rules, or VPN designs. These records can reveal how systems connect, where trust is concentrated, and which services or access paths may be important.
In cyber security, exposed configuration data can help attackers plan targeted activity, even when it does not provide direct access by itself. Defenders should treat infrastructure documentation as sensitive: restrict and audit access, remove unnecessary copies, and keep published or shared materials free of operational details. If a disclosure is suspected, review the exposed information and assess whether credentials, access rules, or network designs need to be changed.
