Cloned interface

A lookalike website designed to mimic a legitimate platform.

A cloned interface is a website or app designed to look like a legitimate service, such as a trading platform, bank, or login page. It may copy branding, page layouts, and forms to make visitors believe they are dealing with the real organization.

In cyber attacks, criminals use cloned interfaces to persuade people to enter passwords, payment details, or personal information, or to make deposits into fraudulent services. The lookalike site may be hosted on a misleading domain and replaced or moved when detected. Defenders can reduce risk by checking the domain carefully, using trusted bookmarks, and reporting suspected copies; organizations can monitor for unauthorized domains and warn users. A convincing appearance is not proof that a platform is genuine.
