Chest strap

a wearable band that keeps a sensor positioned against the body.

A chest strap is a wearable band that holds a sensor firmly against the body, usually the chest, so it can collect stable measurements such as heart rate or motion data. In fitness gear, the strap keeps the sensor in the right position while the device sends readings to a phone, watch, or other receiver over Bluetooth or a similar wireless link.

In cyber security, chest straps matter because they are connected devices with both physical and wireless attack surfaces. If the radio link is weakly protected, an attacker nearby may try to eavesdrop on data, spoof a sensor, or pair an unauthorized device. If the hardware or app is poorly designed, tampering can affect the integrity of the readings or expose personal health data. Defenses include strong pairing, encrypted communication, signed firmware updates, and validating that received measurements come from the expected sensor.
