A case record is a structured support-ticket object in a customer relationship management (CRM) system. It organizes a customer request and related details, such as the message, contact information, status, and response history. Features such as Email-to-Case or Web-to-Case can create records from incoming customer communications.
In cyber security, case records matter because they may contain sensitive information and untrusted customer-supplied content. Automated workflows can pass selected record fields to staff or AI agents, so organizations should limit access and data sharing, review which fields are exposed, and control what actions downstream systems can take. A case record is a normal business object, but its permissions and connections determine its security risk.
