A browser challenge is a web-based check designed to distinguish human visitors from automated traffic. It may ask a visitor to complete a visual task or briefly verify browser behavior. A legitimate challenge should not require opening a terminal or running commands on the device.
Challenges help websites limit bots and abusive requests, but attackers can imitate familiar verification pages to build trust. In real attacks, a counterfeit page may use that trust to persuade visitors to copy and run commands, shifting the risk from browser interaction to local execution. Treat any verification prompt that requests a command as suspicious; defenders can investigate suspected activity by reviewing endpoint process and command-line logs.
