Battery technology

the hardware and chemistry that determine how an EV stores and delivers power.

Battery technology is the hardware and chemistry that determine how a device stores, delivers, and manages electrical power. In electric vehicles, it includes the cells, pack design, thermal controls, and battery management system (BMS) that balance charging, discharge, and safety. The battery is not just an energy source; it also sets range, weight, recharge time, and operating limits.

In cyber security, battery technology matters because many modern systems depend on it for uptime and safety. Attackers may target battery telemetry, BMS firmware, or charging logic to cause denial of service, unsafe behavior, or false status reports. Defenders reduce risk with signed firmware, secure diagnostics, tamper detection, and monitoring for abnormal power draw or charging patterns. In EVs and other connected devices, strong battery management is part of both reliability and resilience.
