Attack frequency is how often hostile events occur during a given period. It complements measures such as attack size and duration: a series of small, brief DDoS bursts may create sustained pressure even if no single burst is large.
Frequency matters because repeated events can interrupt service, trigger recurring alerts, and consume defenders’ time. Security teams track event rates and timing to distinguish recurring attacks from normal traffic variation, tune monitoring, and assess whether defenses can absorb repeated bursts. Frequency alone does not establish an attacker’s identity or intent, but it helps show the operational impact of persistent activity.
