An application component is a functional part of software, such as a module, service, or configuration element. Components work together to deliver an application’s features, and their permissions and interactions can affect the security of the whole system.
In cyber security, a weakness that lets someone alter or influence a component may allow behavior beyond their intended access, potentially including unauthorized changes or code execution. In real attacks, a compromised or misused account might exploit such a weakness; defenders should apply relevant patches, limit account privileges, and review logs for unexpected administrative actions or changes to application behavior.
