Anti-Automation Evasion

Behaviors aimed at bypassing or working around bot defenses such as CAPTCHA.

Anti-automation evasion describes behavior intended to bypass or work around controls that distinguish people from automated traffic, such as CAPTCHA challenges, rate limits, or bot-detection checks. Attackers may automate challenge solving, vary request patterns, or make scripts imitate human browsing.

These methods matter because they can help abusive automation continue despite defenses, including credential attacks, account creation, scraping, or fraud. A CAPTCHA result alone is therefore not a reliable trust signal. Defenders can combine challenge outcomes with request rates, session behavior, device or network signals, and account activity, then investigate unusual patterns and adjust controls without relying on any single indicator.
