Antenna control unit (ACU)

The controller that supplies power and manages antenna functions.

An antenna control unit (ACU) is the controller that supplies power to an antenna system and manages its functions. In a marine satellite-TV system, it can coordinate antenna movement and pointing so the dish can track a satellite as the vessel moves. The ACU works alongside the radio-frequency and mechanical components; it is not the dish reflector itself.

Understanding the ACU matters when maintaining or repurposing antenna hardware because it defines part of the system’s power and control path. Before connecting reused equipment, identify its interfaces, power requirements, and control signals, and isolate or secure any network connections if present. In an attack, exposed or poorly protected control interfaces could provide a route to disrupt equipment or alter its operation; these are general risks, not claims about any specific project.
