Airborne particles are tiny solid pieces or liquid droplets suspended in the air. They range from visible dust to microscopic particles that may be inhaled without being noticed. Their effects depend on factors such as particle type, size, concentration, and exposure duration.
In workshops and other enclosed spaces, airborne particles matter because poor air movement can allow contaminants to linger. Ventilation can dilute or remove particles, while air-quality monitoring can help reveal changing conditions; measurement alone does not eliminate a hazard. In cybersecurity, the term may also appear in discussions of physical workplace safety and sensor monitoring, but particles themselves are not a cyber threat.
