AI-first operating model

An enterprise approach where AI is built into decisions, workflows, and investment logic.

An AI-first operating model is an enterprise approach in which AI is built into core decisions, workflows, and investment logic instead of being used only as a separate tool. In practice, AI may help route approvals, prioritize work, query internal data, or trigger automated actions across business systems.

In cyber security, this matters because AI becomes part of the control plane. That expands the attack surface: poisoned training data, manipulated prompts, weak identity checks, bad retrieval sources, or untrusted event streams can all influence decisions. Defenders respond with least privilege, strong authentication, provenance tracking, schema validation, logging, and lifecycle governance so AI actions can be audited and constrained. The same model also supports defense by speeding triage, detecting anomalies, and automating repetitive security tasks, but only when the AI’s inputs and permissions are tightly controlled.
