Affiliate fraud is a scam arrangement in which one party provides the infrastructure-such as a fake website, payment processing, or backend controls-while others attract victims in exchange for a share of the proceeds. It separates the operation that runs the scam from the promoters who bring in traffic.
In cybercrime, this model can make fraud easier to scale: affiliates may use social posts, referral links, or impersonated brands to steer people to a platform controlled by the operators. For example, a promoter might direct users to a convincing trading-site clone, while its administrators control displayed balances and restrict withdrawals. Defenders and users should assess the platform and payment flow independently; persuasive promotion and a polished interface do not prove that a service or its assets are genuine.
