An adaptation project is a planned initiative to change a product, process, or business model in response to new conditions. Organizations may use one to address climate-related pressures such as supply disruptions, resource limits, changing regulations, or shifts in customer demand. It is managed as a defined effort, with goals, decisions, and results that can be reviewed and adjusted.
In cybersecurity, adaptation projects may involve updating processes or services as risks, technologies, or operating conditions change-for example, revising supplier requirements or continuity plans. Such projects are not security controls by themselves. Clear ownership, documentation, and review help ensure changes do not introduce unexamined risks or leave systems inconsistently protected. A repeated plan, do, check, act cycle can help teams test changes, assess their effects, and correct course.
