An action camera is a compact camera designed for portable recording in active settings. Its small size and durable design make it useful for capturing activity in the field; an external battery can extend recording time when the built-in battery is limiting.
In cyber security, an action camera is an endpoint that may store sensitive footage or connect to phones, computers, or wireless networks. Attackers with physical access or access to an insecure connected device could potentially view, copy, or alter recordings. Defenses include using trusted firmware, changing default passwords, limiting wireless connections, protecting stored footage, and managing batteries and accessories so recording devices remain available when needed.
