Workflow data is the execution record of an AI agent: logs, traces, approvals, tool calls, and metadata that show how it moved through a task. It captures not just the final answer, but the path the system took to reach it.
In cyber security, workflow data matters because agentic systems can act across apps, APIs, and internal services. A good record helps defenders verify whether an action was authorized, reconstruct incidents, and spot suspicious patterns such as repeated failed approvals, unusual tool usage, or access outside the expected scope. In attacks, missing or weak workflow data makes it harder to detect prompt injection, excessive agency, or abuse of delegated permissions. In defense, the same data supports auditability, incident response, and runtime policy enforcement by making an agent’s behavior visible and reviewable.
