WhatsApp Flows is a WhatsApp business feature for building guided, in-chat forms and structured interactions. Instead of sending a user to a separate website, a company can collect inputs, show step-by-step prompts, and complete simple workflows inside the conversation. For security teams, that changes where trust is placed: the user is no longer checking a browser address bar, but trusting the chat session and the business account behind it.
This matters because phishing often succeeds by pushing people onto lookalike links or fake login pages. A chat-native flow can reduce that risk, but it does not remove it. Attackers may imitate a legitimate business account, abuse a compromised account, or copy the wording and layout of a trusted flow to steal codes or personal data. Defenders should treat WhatsApp Flows as a user interface, not proof of identity, and still enforce strong backend controls such as rate limiting, account verification, short-lived tokens, minimal data collection, and anti-spoofing checks.
