Wallet functionality

The user-facing controls for sending, receiving, or managing digital assets.

Wallet functionality is the set of user-facing controls that let someone send, receive, and manage digital assets. In a crypto app, it includes actions such as displaying balances, generating deposit addresses, creating transfer requests, approving transactions, and sometimes interacting with bridges or dapps. It is the part of the system users see, but it depends on many hidden components, including smart contracts, key management, and backend services.

In security terms, wallet functionality matters because it is often the last step before assets move. If a bridge, signer, or admin system is compromised, defenders may disable wallet functions to stop further transfers while they investigate. Attackers also target wallet flows through phishing, malicious approvals, or UI manipulation that tricks users into authorizing unsafe actions. Good defenses include transaction limits, clear signing prompts, multi-factor controls for sensitive actions, and the ability to pause transfers quickly during an incident.
